Sea Surface Temps & Weather Forecasts Match Up

There is little doubt at this point if we’re about to experience another La Niña winter, though the intensity of the event is still unclear. As the astute weather watchers will recall, 2010 was a strong La Niña event (which means ocean temperatures in the equatorial Pacific are cooler than normal. Conversely, an El Niño event is marked by ocean temperatures in the same region being warmer than normal.) Proposals for E2 Energy to Educate Grants Due Oct. 1

Just a little more than two days left! Constellation is accepting proposals through Oct. 1 for the 2011 E2 Energy to Educate Grant Awards.

E2 Energy to Educate Grants are awarded to projects that reach and inspire students to think differently about energy, and that align with at least one of three focus areas:

– the basic science and engineering needed to address energy challenges;
– new energy technologies entering the marketplace;
– and the expanding role of information technology in how we efficiently manage and use energy.

Ohio Governor’s 21st Century Energy & Economic Summit Calls For Cooperative Development of Statewide Energy Policy

Ohio may not have a formal energy policy in place, but last week’s Governor’s 21st Century Energy & Economic Summit meant significant progress toward Governor John Kasich’s commitment to taking a strategic direction. The significance of Ohio’s deep shale formations was the primary focus of the two-day conference, which also addressed other topics including energy policy, environmental regulations, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.
