There are only a couple of short weeks left for large businesses in Arizona served by the Arizona Public Service (APS) Company to apply for enrollment in the new Experimental Rate Schedule AG-1. Until July 31, commercial, industrial and public sector customers with at least 10 MW peak load in the APS service territory can apply to take advantage of working with a Generation Service Provider (GSP), with known benefits including price stability and the possibility of cost savings for up to four years. The program is limited to 200 MW total demand.
APS will evaluate each application to ensure that the customer meets the 10 MW threshold throughout the month of July. If the program is oversubscribed, participants will be selected through a lottery process to be held in early August. The GSP will then work with each participant to get a contract in place that meets the individual needs of each business. The target date to get the customer / GSP contract in place is September 15, and power flow under this program is expected to begin on November 1. APS will continue to deliver electricity and bill businesses for both the electricity supply and delivery portion of their energy bill.
