Constellation Accepting Energy to Educate Grant Proposals From Schools

Do you have a great idea that will help future leaders solve tomorrow’s greatest energy challenges? Constellation is now accepting proposals for its E² Energy to Educate^SM grant program. The program awards up to $25,000 to projects for students in grades 6-12 and up to $50,000 to students at colleges and universities. The deadline for applications is October 1, 2017.

New Focus Areas

The program features themes to reflect the energy challenges facing the next generation.

“As technology continues to transform our industry, we feel strongly about the importance of preparing a new generation for the energy opportunities and challenges that lie ahead,” said Mike Smith vice president, Exelon Generation, Innovation and Strategy Development. “Through Energy to Educate, we’ve provided more than $2.6 million for research and education programs that help to inspire students and build the science, math and technology skills they need to be successful in any career.” To be eligible for funding, a project must be team-oriented, reach a minimum of 100 students and align with the following energy innovation themes:

• Energy in Transportation: What will the future of transportation look like? New technologies and ideas are fueling us into the future.
• Backyard Generation: Could your home improvement project be generating your own energy? New ideas in energy generation are improving efficiency and resilience.
• Zero Waste: What if we could harness energy that would otherwise be wasted? The recycling movement is catching on in energy thanks to innovative technologies.

Previous grantees have furthered research into solar energy, built energy efficient micro-homes, implemented green design labs in New York City schools, and more.
