Retail electric competition is currently capped at 10%. Michigan customers that were able to choose a competitive supplier before hitting the arbitrary 10% cap are estimated to have saved over $350 million. Michigan customers unable to switch are now paying the highest prices in the Midwest, having increased by over 20% since 2008.
