U.S. Army Selects Constellation to Assist with Procuring Renewable Power Production

Posted by

In April 2012, the federal government announced that the Defense Department set a goal to deploy 3 gigawatts of renewable energy on Army, Navy and Air Force installations by 2025, which is one of the largest commitments to clean energy in history. The Army alone will be responsible for 1 gigawatt of that total; an amount of energy that could power 225,000 homes.

To ensure that the Army could successfully procure renewable energy and meet its goal by 2025, Multiple Award Task Order Contracts (MATOC) are in the process of being issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers…

As the company that currently services more than 380 federal government sites and 4,000 government customers in 47 states, Constellation was invited to participate in the White House Council on Environmental Quality’s (CEQ) GreenGov Dialogue on Demand Response at the end of February.

CEQ convened leaders from government, the private sector, non-profits and academia to identify opportunities to reduce the federal government’s peak energy demand and share lessons learned and innovations in peak energy use reduction. I was honored to be asked to provide my insights alongside other thought leaders on how the federal government can increase its participation in demand response, which is essential to achieving real energy savings.…

Strategies for Government Organizations to Reduce Energy Costs & Consumption

Posted by

Developing smarter building systems, shifting technology infrastructure, and using information and communications strategies are effective ways to reduce energy consumption and emissions, and meet sustainability mandates. According to a recent article on the Environmental Leader website, a report by the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) shows how some federal agencies have been able to incorporate such strategies to promote the use of sustainable energy and reduce energy consumption, all with positive impacts to the agency’s bottom line.

There are other aspects that federal, state, and local government leaders should consider when…
