5 Ways Going Solar Can Bring Real Value

3.66MW Solar Generation System (UMMS)

This past April, we completed solar generation projects that will respectively support 60% of the electricity needs for 5 Arizona schools and provide the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) with millions of kilowatt-hours (kWh) worth of electricity from solar generation, which helps meet UMMS’ sustainability goals.

These are just two recent examples of public organizations that have taken the plunge into solar generation and are reaping real value from doing so.

By structuring solar projects as solar service or power purchase agreements, we offer solar installations that require little to no upfront capital from customers and typically provide fixed power costs that are less than projected market rates.

Outlined below are five ways that going solar can bring your organization and business real value.…

2012 Executive Energy Forum- What “Sustainability” Means to Businesses

Posted by

At the 2012 Executive Energy Forum, leaders from ACCO, Microsoft and BOMA International offered insights into how “sustainability” can be worked into business plans.

To kick-off the conversation, the panel debated the meaning of the word “sustainability.” While the panel agreed that the word “sustainability” has an ambiguous definition, it still remains a powerful term that should indicate high business performance and corporate responsibility.  Furthermore, it’s worth noting that the Federal Trade Commission has not come out with a clear definition of the word either.  Marketers should make sure that all claims of “sustainability” are clearly defined and well qualified, as with any general environmental benefit claim.…

How Peer Influence Increases Solar Adoption

Posted by

In a recent article published on AOL Energy.com, Ben Higgins discussed how peer influence may be one of the most effective ways to spread the awareness and adoption of solar power.

It’s worth noting that there are a variety of factors that influence the spread of solar power. Factors such as policy changes, economics and new innovations that influence how solar is bought and sold, impact consumer demand. However, a recent study by Yale University found that residential customers are more likely to install a solar system…
