What the “Smart Grid” is depends a lot on who you ask.

According to the Department of Energy, the Smart Grid is “an automated, widely distributed energy delivery network; the Smart Grid will be characterized by a two-way flow of electricity and information and will be capable of monitoring everything from power plants to customer preferences to individual appliances.  It incorporates into the grid the benefits of distributed computing and communications to deliver real-time information and enable a near instantaneous balance of supply and demand at the device level.”

FMA Congress Event Recap

Earlier this month, myself and Troy Geanopulos, along with energy decision makers from throughout the United States attended the FMA Congress: Progressive Energy, Environment and Data Center Management, which took place in Weston, Florida. 

The event focused on new green technologies and emerging programs with key speakers from corporations and government agencies.   We both talked about the need for businesses to develop an integrated energy strategy and plan for climate change. 

More specifically, topics ranging from the Smart Grid and the collision of energy and data, to energy efficiency and project financing.
