Constellation Announces 2016 E2 Energy to Educate Grant Recipients

In May, Constellation began accepting proposals for its revamped E² Energy to Educate Grants program. Earlier this month, Constellation announced the recipients of its 2016 E² Energy to Educate Grants program for student projects focusing on energy science, technology and education. Constellation awarded over $380,000 in funding to 17 projects reaching more than 35,000 students, grades 6 through college. 

Winning submissions included projects from schools and community organizations in ten states. Student projects include installing and studying luminescent solar concentrators, building and racing electric vehicles, designing wind turbines, scientific testing of fuel cells, and evaluation of energy storage technologies. “Constellation applauds this year’s grant recipients for their energy innovation and creativity,” said Mike Smith vice president, Exelon Generation, Innovation and Strategy Development. “Over the past seven years, Constellation’s Energy to Educate program has reached nearly 140,000 students, helping them to build the science, math and technology skills that will be required to address tomorrow’s energy challenges.”

Since its inception in 2010, Constellation’s Energy to Educate grants program has provided over $2.6 million in funding for 85 student projects that have enhanced the understanding of energy-related science and technology issues. Grant recipients are announced each year during American Education Week.
