How Our Lagging National Energy Efficiency Creates Opportunities

It’s no secret that energy costs have become a top expense for many businesses and organizations around the country. Yet, the U.S. ranks ninth out of 12 major economies for energy efficiency, according to a new report released by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (the ACEEE 2012 International Energy Efficiency Scorecard). The report specifically mentions that the U.S. has made “limited or little progress toward greater efficiency at the national level.”

On Monday, more than 170 colleges and universities across the country will begin competing to see who can reduce the most energy and water in their residence halls by April 23.  This is part of Lucid’s Campus Conservation Nationals (CCN), which is sponsored by Constellation.

Deadline Nears for Participation in 2011 PJM Demand Response Program

Thousands of commercial and industrial businesses in the PJM Interconnection enrolled in a demand response program for 2010.

This includes businesses in parts or all of: Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.  Businesses are finalizing their plans now as the March 15, 2011 deadline nears for enrolling in a program for this year.

Incentives are available for businesses that enroll in a demand response program, and commit to reduce their electricity usage when called by the system operator.
