Constellation Continues its Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

2 min read

Diversity and inclusion is an integral part of Constellation’s and Exelon’s commitment to impact the communities we serve. A key part of this includes supporting minority and women-owned businesses and creating a diverse environment where our employees can thrive. Our commitment to cultivating supplier diversity, creating resource groups that support diversity and inclusion to bring fresh insights to the company, and being a corporate citizen are just a few of the many values we echo from our parent company, Exelon.

Billion Dollar Roundtable
Recently, Exelon was inducted as the first energy company joining The Billion Dollar Roundtable Inc.’s member companies. The Billion Dollar Roundtable Inc. (BDR) is an advocacy organization that promotes corporate supplier diversity excellence and honors U.S.-based corporations that have achieved $1 billion or more in annual, direct spending with minority and women-owned businesses.

Collectively, Exelon companies, including Constellation, spent close to $2 billion with diversity-certified suppliers in 2016. This includes a range of companies, from asphalt manufacturers and fuel distributors to technology providers. Exelon increased its commitment to diverse businesses by 36 percent over the previous year. In Exelon’s press release detailing this honor, President and CEO Chris Crane stated: “Exelon is committed to diversity and inclusion across our enterprise, from our hiring and promotion to our giving, and how we spend our resources because we know an inclusive culture results in greater innovation, market competitiveness and opportunities for growth.”

Diversity in the Workplace
Exelon and Constellation know that an inclusive culture results in greater innovation and growth so we strive to foster this environment in our daily lives. This year alone, Exelon was recognized as a Top 50 company for Diversity by DiversityInc. and was named among the “Best Places to Work” for LGBTQ Equality by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. It also joined the United Nations Women’s HeForShe campaign. Exelon’s commitment extends to our communities and corporate giving practices – 70 percent of the $46 million Exelon donated to nonprofits in 2016 supported programs targeted to diverse populations. Constellation contributed nearly $4 million to organizations important to local communities and our employees volunteered 35,000 hours in 2017 as a part of this shared commitment with Exelon.
