Constellation and the Ravens are Getting the Team Back Together
2 min readFall brings cooler temperatures, pumpkin pies and football. Without fans in the stands or traditions like tailgating, football season looks different this year, but the players bring energy, hard work and determination to every game. Our students do the same – taking on the challenge of virtual learning with strength and resiliency.
2020 marks the eighth year of Constellation’s Sacks for Science program with the Baltimore Ravens. For each sack made by the Ravens defense, Constellation sends a school group to visit the Power Up! Exhibit at the Maryland Science Center. This initiative has granted thousands of Maryland students access to the engaging hands-on exhibits at the museum to explore the fields of science, technology and energy. After schools made the move to virtual learning this past spring, Constellation worked with local educators and administrators to instead use the Sacks for Science funds for necessary virtual learning technology like microphone head sets and Chromebook laptops, facilitated by Baltimore-based non-profit Code in the Schools. We hope that in the spring, our winners can again visit the Maryland Science Center, and if not, we will continue to provide technology to support virtual learning in our community.

Constellation invests in STEM education and the Sacks for Science program to encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math. These young leaders will someday be the future of our industry and learning about renewable energy, energy conservation and electricity at the Science Center could spark a lifelong enthusiasm for STEM.
As the Official Energy Provider of the Baltimore Ravens, Constellation helped the team construct a 375-kilowatt (DC) solar generation project at the Under Armour Performance Center, the Ravens’ headquarters and training facility in Owings Mills, Md. The roof-mounted system covers nearly half a football field and can sustain winds up to 90 miles per hour. The solar system generates power to fulfill 15% of the team headquarters’ electricity needs producing 42,000 kWh monthly.
While football season kicked off across the country, this fall also marked the groundbreaking of the Constellation Center for Excellence at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. As the official energy provider of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Constellation is working with the Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company on the development of the new Constellation Center for Excellence at its destination in Canton, Ohio. This state-of-the-art facility will help the Hall of Fame Village powered by Johnson Controls to be an efficient and innovative leader with sustainability at the forefront. The Constellation Center for Excellence will be a key cornerstone for this development as it evolves into a world-class sports and entertainment destination. The mixed-use facility will be a center for innovation and research showcasing Constellation’s clean energy solutions and tailored energy management strategies.
